Biochip Enables Simultaneous Detection Of 5 Cell Adhesion Molecules In A Single Sample

Cells are decorated with several proteins that enable binding to other cell components making them "sticky". A group of these proteins are Cell Adhesion Molecules (CAMs). These molecules play a key role in the development of immune processes and have implications in atherogenesis and conditions such as stroke and cancer. Measurement of cell adhesion molecules has been utilised successfully for research into the fore mentioned conditions and in drug development.

A new biochip from Randox enables simultaneous detection of 5 cell adhesion molecules in a single sample. Biochip arrays utilise Biochip Array Technology, which is based on ELISA principles of sandwich or competitive immunoassays. The 9mm x 9mm biochip acts as a reaction platform, with 5 cell adhesion molecule specific antibodies attached at pre-defined sites on the surface. 5 analytes can be measured simultaneously using just 25(l of patient sample and either human serum or plasma can be tested.

Randox has 25 years experience in the research and development of biomarkers covering a wide range of disease states. We understand that research needs to be cost effective, less labour intensive and allow you to get more information from every sample. Biochip Array Technology is focused around a central ethos of TLC, Time saving, Labour saving and Cost saving. These benefits, in addition to the Randox expanding test menu make Randox the Number 1 company for diagnostic research.
